BIO

Aaron Weintraub is from Austin Texas. He majored in Journalism, with an emphasis in print media in the School of Journalism and Communications at the University of Oregon. He minored in Arabic Studies in the Religious Studies Department and was also accepted as a student inhe Clark Honors College. Through the Clark Honors College, he studied abroad in 2015 at the Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies in a program at Keble College in Oxford University, focusing primarily on Arabic and Islamic history. He also studied Arabic at the Qasid Institute in Amman, Jordan. After graduatingwith a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Oregon in 2017, he flew directly to Amman, where he worked in multimedia
communications and productions for various NGOs as well as freelanced stories for the Associated Press. In 2022, he moved to Erbil, Iraq to work with KurdistanInformation Network on features, podcasts and, ultimately, a documentary. He now focuses on documentaries as a freelance director.
